Volunteers Needed for the Shared Bread Food Program!
Wednesday, July 30, 2-4 pm
Our Church has committed to preparing a hot meal to give to approx. 150 people in need whenever there is a 5th Wednesday in the month.
We are seeking a new leader for this ministry and we urgently need volunteers to help on Wednesday, July 30. If you can help out or arrange for a group of volunteers from your workplace, school, or social club to come, please contact Mo. Julie. Thank you!
Shared Bread takes place at The First United Methodist Church (one block from Christ Church) at 243 S Broadway, Redondo Beach.
Learn More About Our New Rector’s Journey to the Episcopal Church:
Many Thanks to Garth Meyer and The Easy Reader for their spotlight article on Mo. Julie Beals!
Twice she stood at the edge of the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol, England, 245 feet above high tide, which it may not have been.
The first time, a professor happened to drive by, and stopped to talk down 19-year-old Julie Beals. The second time, what happened led her on a long journey to become the first female rector of the white, wooden church across from the Redondo Beach Fire Station.

Christ Church, Redondo Beach
When the church was dedicated on Jan. 4, 1893, the Redondo Compass reported: “The style of architecture is Gothic. Christ Church is a very pretty little building, one of which the Episcopalians may well be proud. The inside is finished in Oregon pine and redwood.”
St. Andrew’s, Torrance
St. Andrew’s was established in 1918 and is located in the heart of Historic Torrance. The church offers many community programs, classrooms, and opportunities for service.
